Good readings tonight. After actively setting up my Diingo, Moodle, Blog, Wiki accounts and then editing a Wiki, and posting on this blog, I enjoyed “just reading” for a bit.
From our first reading:
Measurement – is a means to … Assessment – is a tool to … Evaluate
and from Brent Muirhead D.Min., Ph.D. :
Alternate Assessment might include Journal Writing and Rubrics rather than objective tests or essays
and from Huba and Freed (2000):
Teacher-Centered Paradigm vs Learner-Centered Paradigm where examples like list are listed in a table:
Knowledge is transferred from teacher to students in the Teacher-Centered paradigm while Students construct knowledge through gathering and synthesizing information, integrating it with the general skills of inquiry, communication, critical thinking, problem solving etc… in the student-centered paradigm.
Personal tidbit. I first heard the word “Paradigm” back in 1992 (approximately) from Kathy Walstead-Plumb, one of my favorite United Healthcare executives. I’m kind of hoping she’ll google herself one day and find my blog reference to her. I learned alot under her leadership. KWP if you’re still out there – God Bless YOU!

Awe. I’m actually saddened as I look back at my blog and find that the reflection from Week 1 June 14 no longer appears. Well, that’s learning from experience, isn’t it.

I like the clean look of WordPress. Did you set up the navigational buttons on the top? That’s nice-very easy to notice and easy to use. Your reposted Week 1 is showing up just fine. I also like the way you set up the information for the reading. Looks like a good way of organizing material to use after the course is done.

I used one of the templates provided. The look is clean and easy for me to navigate. Great feature by WordPress. Thank you for checking out my blog, CC! Have a great week of learning.

Gwen, I was visiting here looking for a Week 3 reflection as well as a copy of your concept map. Please email me so that we can talk about missed assignments. Thanks. ~ Datta Kaur

Hi! Thanks for checking out my blog, Datta!
I posted Week #3 on June 29 and will post Week #4 on July 7 (holiday weekend) My concept map was tagged to the forum discussion – but after reading your comment perhaps I should also post it here? I’m also wondering if I’m somehow still a week off on your expectations. Gwen
